TKL Research is a full-service clinical research organization specializing in clinical and consumer studies. We have been in business for over 70 years and have built our reputation on excellent scientific evaluation, thorough documentation and the highest regard for our study volunteers.

The success of our studies is based upon “you” the volunteer, who give your time to participate in our studies. It is because of you that new breakthrough advances in healthcare, pharmaceutical treatment and medical devices are introduced to the consumer marketplace every day. It is an enormously important responsibility.

At TKL Research we recruit, schedule and conduct clinical research studies which evaluate the safety and effectiveness of cosmetic, dental, personal care, over the counter and pharmaceutical products.

A clinical study is research conducted with volunteers to evaluate the safety and/or effectiveness of both new and existing treatments and medical devices. Each study is designed to answer specific questions about how a product works and its advantages over others. Every study has its own unique procedures and requirements for both our staff and our volunteers.

Advances in medicine and science are the results of new ideas and approaches developed through research. New treatments must prove to be safe and effective in scientific studies before they can be made widely available.

TKL has several departments that conduct many types of day, evening and overnight studies. The six primary types of studies that we conduct are:

• Cosmetic Studies
• Patch Studies
• Dental Studies
• In-Home Use Studies
• Safety & Effectiveness Studies
• Overnight Studies

TKL compensates every volunteer for their participation in our studies, anywhere from $60-$6,000 for time and travel. Study compensation differs for every study, generally based upon the length of study, number of visits, whether the study requires a special or pre-existing condition (like dry skin or acne), or an overnight or extended stay. Most of the studies we conduct at TKL require just healthy subjects. Referral fees are also available to all volunteers who refer a friend for patch studies and some other select studies.

If you choose to volunteer for a study, the first step is filling out a Participant Information Profile (PIP). The information you provide will be entered in to our database, which will help us decide which studies to offer you. Each study requires that you read and sign an Informed Consent document, before deciding whether a study is right for you. Lastly, each study has its own Medical Screener which must also be completed whenever you participate in a new study.

At TKL Research we appreciate your participation and encourage every volunteer to complete their study, but yes, you can refuse to join a study or you may leave a study at any time.
